Send Google Voicemails to Your Phone

Posted on 21:48 by Unknown
Note that when the call comes in, it looks just like any other call and you can't tell that is a forwarded call from Google Voice.

  1. Go to Google Voice (www.google.com/voice/).

  2. Click on the icon that looks like a gear in the upper left corner.

  3. Click Settings.

In addition to forwarding calls, you can also indicate things such as:
  • Email a message that a call was received to an email address (This is what I do. It includes the telephone number and a link to a Voicemail if one was left).

  • Send a text message that a call was received (I do this too.)

  • Record a new Voicemail greeting, or your name

  • Change the PIN for accessing your Voicemail (Settings, "Voice & Text")

  • Choose to have your Voicemails transcribed ("Google Voice can automatically transcribe your new voicemail messages and send you the transcript to the email address and the SMS number you added in the 'Notifications' section")

All for no charge (from Google)!

To retrieve your Google Voicemails, simply call your Google number and key in your PIN. If you need a new PIN, see above.

iPhone does not Ring

Posted on 10:51 by Unknown
There are 2 things you need to check:

#1- Be sure the switch on the side is flipped forward (you'll see a red mark beside the switch if it's flipped backwards), and

#2- Press the + sign button that's under the switch to increase the volume. (if your phone is locked you won't see the volume increasing, so unlock it so you can).

#2 is likely the problem.

That also increases the sound of the alarm, etc.

Increase the Amount of Space used by System Restore

Posted on 18:40 by Unknown
Open up System Restore:

Start (button in the lower left corner); Right click on Computer, then click Properties.

In the upper left panel select System Protection > Configure*, then adjust your disk space usage here.

*Note Protection Settings must be turned On or you won't see "Configure (in the unlikely chance they are set to "Off", refer to this post to turn them on: http://digital-qa.blogspot.com/2011/07/turn-system-restore-on-or-off.html).

How to Permanently Remove Funmoods

Posted on 07:52 by Unknown
Funmoods hijacked my browser after downloading an app that removes metadata from photos. I wasn't able to uninstall it via normal methods. I also wasn’t able to use system restore (and received a “Catastrophic failure” message).

How to Remove Funmoods

To remove funmoods, go into safe mode*, uninstall Chrome, and then re-install Chrome**.  Firefox users, see further below in the comments section.

*How to go into Safe Mode: http://digital-qa.blogspot.com/2010/01/get-into-safe-mode.html
