Facebook Crashes on iPad

Do this: uninstall/re-install the Facebook App. If that doesn't work then also reset the iPad.



After doing that Facebook is no longer closing on me. Don't do the reset unless the uninstall/re-install doesn't work as it's a bit of work to get all your settings back like you want them after performing an iPad reset

Sort ToDo List in Microsoft Outlook

For some reason it took me awhile to figure out how to properly alpha-sort the list under the To-Do Bar in Microsoft Outlook. This is what you  have to do:



Right click on "Arranged By:" at top of list.

Select: Custom > Sort > Subject (ascending) be sure to select NO when asked: "The field "Subject" that you want to sort by is not shown in the view. Do you want to show it?"

Easy Instructions for setting Gymboss Timer

This is how I set up the Gymboss to simply beep every 30 seconds. (You can modify of course.)



All buttons are labeled on the device: NEXT and CHANGE across the top, START on the side.



Here's the Setup (note if there are no inputs for 20 seconds timer will exit setup):

1. Push CHANGE 


2. You'll see the word SETUP in the screen


3. Push NEXT


4. Push CHANGE until you see only 1 set of Times in the window.


5. Push NEXT


6. Push CHANGE to change the first digit of the time (00:00)


7. Push NEXT and CHANGE again to move through all 4 digits (I like 00:30)


8. Push NEXT


9. Push CHANGE to set to 00 (timer goes off every X seconds until you stop it or 99 times max)


10. Push CHANGE to set the timer to BH for High Beep sound (or BL low beep, V vibrate)


11. Push NEXT


12. Push CHANGE for 1 (1 second alarm duration

To STOP the timer, hold the START button for 3 seconds

To PAUSE the timer, push START 3 times within 2 seconds.

To RESUME the timer, push START

Save a PDF File

Once you find a .pdf file to save, you may notice there is no "right-click" or save option available in the Toolbar. If you have Adobe reader installed (which you likely do if you are looking at a .pdf), you'll find that if you hover your cursor over the lower center part of the screen, you'll see several options, and one of them is Save!



It looks like this (but you'll only see it if you hover):





















You can also click that icon on the far right and it will bring up the standard Adobe toolbar framing the .pdf file with even more options.

Using biotechnology is great for making medicine, not for making everyday food. Antimicrobial resistance is already a problem and superbugs now exist from wide-spread misuse of antibiotics (especially in cows). Prop 37 allows food to be labeled 'natural' when in fact it is modified to be pest resistant. To me that's not natural. America is one of the only industrialized nations without GMO labeling. How to Connect iPhone to PC via Bluetooth

1. On iPhone tap Settings > General > Bluetooth, and then tap Bluetooth slide to On



2. On computer, click Start button in lower left corner > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Bluetooth Devices > Add.

Hyperlinks don't work in Email

If you get this message when trying to open a hyperlink within an email: This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.



This is what worked for me:



Open Microsoft Internet Explorer. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab, and make IE the default (we will be changing your default back to Chrome or other browser but this has to be done first). Close IE.



Open Chrome. You should see a banner at the top that says Chrome is not your default and do you want to make it the default. Select Yes.



Now go back to your email and click a hyperlink. Your link will open in Chrome now.

How to Remove Conduit Toolbar

Go to Chrome's wrench in the upper right corner (although I notice today it is no longer a wrench, so anyway it is the Customization icon for Chrome). Go to Extensions. Delete: FLV Runner. Close Chrome and reopen it. It should be gone.



I also uninstalled the app (via Control Panel, uninstall a program) that caused it to load in the first place:  JPEG Lossless Rotator (don't install JPEG Lossless Rotator!)



Things I did that didn't work: System Restore, Uninstall and reinstall Chrome.

All photos uploaded from the Picasa software or in Picasa Web Albums over the free size limit will count towards your 1 GB of free storage. When you reach your storage limit, any new photos you upload larger than the free size limit will be automatically resized to 2048 pixels (on their longest edge).

If you reach your storage limit when uploading from the Picasa desktop software, you'll only be able upload at free storage sizes. Larger uploads will not be automatically resized to the free storage limit.

In design mode, look over in the left panel under links. Put your page URL in the Title Link box:

Closing out Apps on your iPhone Does NOT Extend Battery Life

Like "playing whack-a-mole", tapping the little X's on the iPhone apps you see when you press the home button twice does not shut down a running app. Not sure where this misinformation got started!

"For a long time, the common wisdom held that in order to save battery life on the iPhone, we could just double-tap the home button and close out all the apps on the bottom tray that we weren't using. BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP: 'X' out of the apps, and battery would be saved.



Except, here's the thing: Those apps you see when you press the home button twice aren't actually running or using up any battery. As Fraser Speirs pointed out earlier this year, that row of icons is a list of recently used apps, NOT currently-running apps; when you hit the home button and exit an app, the iPhone automatically shuts it down after five seconds or so. Except in special cases (listed on Speirs' site), the app is not running nor eating up battery life.



Closing out apps might be dang satisfying -- it's like playing whack-a-mole! -- but it is almost certainly not preserving battery life."

I like to choose Arial, Regular, 11  as this is most universal and you pretty much know what it'll look like when your recipient reads it.

iPad Keyboard Split!

If your iPad keyboard separated, simply 'pinch' it back together.



It's kinda nifty it can do that, because you can "undock" and /or "split" the keypad and move it around the screen... helpful if you want to see what would normally be underneath the keyboard. To access the feature, simply press and hold on the keypad icon at the bottom right corner of the keyboard.

Basically this is what you'll do:

1. Install HandBrake (free software) and VLC Media Player (also free software).


2. Put your DVD in the DVD drive and in HandBrake select it ("Source").


3. Select your device on the right:

4. I like to "Preview" (you can do that via the Preview button on the same toolbar where you selected "Source").

CTRL+SHIFT+P - The print screen dialog box will pop-up and you can select "Selection"
